THE PROFESSOR SPEAKS - April 2007
By Jim Price

After their guitarist and singer, Bill Ferrell, released his first solo album last year, Kyx has just released their first CD, “The Verge of Satisfaction”. I saw Kyx twice in recent weeks, in late February at Burgi’s Roundhouse and on St. Patrick’s Day at Glenn’s Place in Claysburg. During both shows, the group broke out a few original songs from both albums, including “I Don’t Wanna See Your Back,” Biker’s Prayer” and the ballad “Trudy’s Song.” One thing that constantly impresses me the most about Kyx is their attention to detail and accuracy in their execution of cover material. Whether it is guitarist/singer Bill Moyer’s husky Bob Seger growl on “Travelin’ Man/Beautiful Loser,” “Turn the Page” or “Roll Me Away,” their furious energy on REO Speedwagon’s “Ridin’ the Storm Out,” or their dead-on accurate rendition of Bruce Springsteen’s “Rosalita” with Bill providing the convincing Boss voice and keyboardist Terry Wills replicating Clarence Clemons’ sax wail; you can tell that Kyx does their homework to get these songs and more just right. This is a band that enjoys the music they are making, whether original songs or cover, and they enjoy giving the best to their fans during every show. Kyx returns to Burgi’s Roundhouse May 26th watch for them on stages throughout the region

THANKS J.P. !!!
